Employer Services Specialist
Summary
Under general supervision of the Employer Services Manager, the Employer Services Specialist is responsible for processing monthly employer contribution files, auditing member accounts, resolving discrepancies, and providing guidance to employers on TRS-related policies and requirements. The ideal candidate is detail oriented, deadline driven, analytical, and committed to excellent customer service.
Description
Minimum Qualifications & Education
- College coursework in business and accounting, and one to three years of experience in financial services or a business environment
OR - Equivalent combination of education and work experience
Preferred Additional Qualifications
- Experience working with qualified retirement plan administration
- Bachelor’s degree with coursework in business or accounting
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide prompt, accurate, professional, and friendly customer service to employers and internal TRS contacts
- Manage a high‑volume work queue while meeting agency quality and timeliness standards
- Prepare correspondence for employers and TRS members
- Add or update employer and member records in the recordkeeping system
- Ensure compliance with TRS policies, state and federal regulations
- Work overtime as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
Specialized Duties & Responsibilities
- Ensure employer contributions are accurately reported and posted each month, collaborating with IT staff, employers, and payroll vendors
- Analyze, research, and resolve contribution and service credit discrepancies
- Educate employers on laws, policies, and procedures to ensure accurate and compliant reporting
- Complete member account audits in accordance with agency and divisional standards
- Monitor and reconcile outstanding contribution payment variances
- Resolve demographic data discrepancies
- Perform account mergers and transfers
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Skill in data analysis, problem identification, and resolution
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities
- Proficiency in using computers and office equipment
- Ability to navigate multiple computer screens while speaking with employers
